Rare Photos of Pope Francis’ Bedroom Go Viral — See Why Everyone’s Talking
A videography of the residential space of the deceased Catholic Church leader spreads across online platforms following his burial ceremony. The spiritual leader shared the truth about his living space in an exceptional public statement about his personal domain.
A historic funeral for Pope Francis created worldwide euphoria because of its profound impact on people around the globe. An online video shares a rare perspective of the Vatican apartment which Pope Francis lived in for over ten years.
After the Roman Bishop received burial services his twelve-year living quarters appeared through photographs only days later. Pope Francis resided in the basic three-room suite which was identified as Room 201.
The building unit contained three main areas which included a bedroom and work area together with a reception zone. Simple dark wood furnishings combined with a wooden crucifix as the main feature hung behind his desk in each of the rooms. The room contained four seats among which was a reclining armchair and a bare working surface and a holy picture on display on top of the cabinet.
He occupied a single-bed room containing two bedside tables, a big wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a little chair that placed in a wall-free space without any decorations. A powder blue five-piece sofa set positioned opposite a small television stood on a desk inside the sitting room.
The photos of his basic housing arrangements caused widespread powerful responses among people from around the world. Supporters praised his unpretentious lifestyle.
Several people noted that this was the proper approach that should define the behavior of a pope. A person stated he lived with utter humility. Listeners noted that Pope Francis’s living area extended beyond the limits of their personal living spaces by mentioning that his bedroom equaled the size of an entire apartment.
A different person shared that they possess a compact apartment similar to mine. The design received admiration from different people who agreed it should maintain this simplicity.
One person observed that they live in a compact apartment of their own. A person mentioned his approval of the minimal aesthetic design by saying “That’s precisely how it must be done.”
From the beginning of his papacy he chose to live with humility. When Pope Francis became the leader of the Roman Catholic Church he opted to live at Casa Santa Marta instead of his regular assignment in the Apostolic Palace papal apartment.
He turned the apartment into his place of residence. During his March 2013 meeting the Supreme leader of worldwide Catholic Church said:
Residing in this current space was originally used for welcoming visitors to the property. The inner voice told me ‘No’ when I occupied Room 201 since I selected the accommodation. The papal apartment at the Apostolic Palace fails to achieve luxurious characteristics. The dwelling is of historic value with tasteful decoration spread across its vast size although it lacks luxurious amenities.
His need to create this humble residence became more apparent. Pope Francis referred to the Apostolic Palace as an upside-down funnel while describing it as large on the inside yet with a narrow front door entry. The flow of visitors into my life becomes impossible because I require constant human interaction. I must lead my life in close contact with people.
At the morning Mass he celebrated with Vatican staff he revealed his decision to stay at Casa Santa Marta. Father Federico Lombardi explained that Pope Francis decided to stay near the workers who resided at Casa Santa Marta.
Pope Francis stayed at the guesthouse until their apartments finished renovations before deciding to remain there. Despite finished renovations in his papal apartment he chose to remain at the guesthouse to continue living with modesty like the other residents.
His choice to reside among other people resulted from principles that had directed him throughout his years of life. He started his journey toward entering the Society of Jesus by seeking something more in life but remained unclear about its precise nature.
When he started his seminary career Pope Francis was exposed to Dominican students who became his close friends. The seminary entrusted to Jesuit control allowed him to become familiar with their lifestyle which ultimately led him to join the Society of Jesus.
His three most significant observations encompassed a dedicated missionary heart combined with total dedication to communal living and disciplined conduct which he admired though he did not possess it himself.
